    ir2200 printout at angle

    Hi all,

I have a canon ir-2200 copier.. recently it has started printing and copying stuff at an angle of about 5 degrees.. so if you see the picture below - the shaded grey area is the print area (things that are copied or printed out) and the white box is the paper.

Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen? I have tried the clean roller function and there does not seem to be any paper jammed/caught up in the copier.
    Thanks in advance guys

Are you sure the paper is not skewing before it reaches the Drum? These models had a habit of breaking the white nylon roller shaft in the Transport drive (open R/H door to inspect).
If the above is ok & after cleaning All the Rollers then I would suspect the Image is being produced in a Parrallogram form which would indicate maybe a slow Polygon Motor in the Laser Unit.

By clean roller function I assume you mean the ADF rollers which begs the question......does this skew only happen when using the ADF? If so....adjust the position of the adf. Look at how the ADF sits on top of the mfp. Does one side hang out just a little more than the other? It should be sitting square and even. Maybe it got tweaked. If it happens for copies from the glass and the adf and also when you print then the problem is in the copier. Haven't seen very many laser issues with this model. I'm with bundy that it's probable the paper is skewing before it reaches the drum. But do a p print in service mode....if those prints have edges that are straight......focus on the ADF. It's probably sitting a bit crooked.

Another thing that is really common that causes skewed copies is----- the customer replaces paper in the cassette but the guides at each side of the paper get knocked out of position and are not snug and locked in place. Open the cassette drawer and make sure those guides are in the proper position. Post back and let us know what the fix was. Good luck.....

Thanks guys with all your suggestions/tips i have found the problem.. if i use the top drawer/cassette the problem occurs. If I use the bottom one or the stack bypass, the problem does not occur.
The paper guides for the top drawer seem to be in the correct position however so maybe the paper pickup mechanism for that drawer/cassette is faulty??
    Thanks again for your help

I see that you isolated to the one cassette. What i have seen when it does it from all cassettes......Registration roller nylon bushing(lower i believe...been a while since i seen one of these) gets oblong inside and then uneven drive on reg roll. Pop the bushing out and flip it over. Usually shows up around a million. Just fyi
