Motors are located inside the Laser Units, one motor for each colour. The Units can be opened very easily, just a few self-tapping screws.

After swopping lasers around this is what I get now, the yellow is off register, what does this mean.
Is the yellow laser in the yellow position [was in the cyan position] gone now.
It still won't run a color mismatch either.

Colour mismatch adjustment won't work until the defective Laser Unit is replaced. Part number for the replacement is FM3-5425-020.
It has to be replaced as an assembly. Canon don't supply any separate components for these units.
ITB swap is just a quick 5 minute way to say "no thats not it"....looking at pg 10 it looks like laser outta whack as stated...kinda like the irc3200 when you have to mechanically re-cam the laser. Try to run COP/FUNC/CLEAR/REG-CLR,then FUNC/MISCP/AT-IMX,then ITB-INIT. Do auto correction in user mode. Otherwise put a new laser in it. Make sure that patch reader shutter isnt broken and just peeping out. Just a quick check. Probably looking at a laser. Cleaned the polygon mirror facets many times but never had one fail. Never tried to re-cam one of these

Hi Canuck,
Ran
(Service Level 2) COP/FUNC/CLEAR/REG-CLR
then
(Service Level 1) FUNC/MISCP/AT-IMG-X
this failed.
How do I do an auto correction in user mode? Does this mean auto correction from the standard menu?
Additional Function > Adjustment/Maintenance > Adjust Image Quality > Auto Correct Color Mismatch
Lastly Canuck you mentioned to check:
'Make sure that patch reader shutter isnt broken'
where is this located please

What I find very strange about it being a laser is, this machine has had very little use.
There are the total output figures from new. Why would a laser just go like this,
is this common?
112 Total (Black/Large) > 5713
113 Total (Black/Small) > 13317
122 Total (Full Color + Single Color/Large) > 33464
123 Total (Full Color + Single Color/Small) > 10651
501 Scan (Total 1) > 511
301 Print (Total 1) > 62862
Nothing is unbreakable
Nothing lasts forever.
I plugged in a brand new machine just out of the box, and the power supply exploded.
