ir ADV C5035i - Toner Skewing - Cyan out of Register

    MACHINE: ir ADV C5035i

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help. I have a problem in registration for only one toner CYAN. The cyan prints out of register of the other colours, it is exaggerated on the top left of the page compared to the bottom right hand side of the page.

In otherwords the cyan is skewwed, it is skewwed to the right, (rotated at about 2 degrees).

    The machine wont colour correct.
I have installed a new registration patch sensor unit hoping this would fix it but it hasn't.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Make sure you have a properly lubricated cleaner blade and run ITB-INIT

    Hi Vigour,

Thank you for responding, I tried what you said, it's still the same.

    I also tried to run
    AT-IMG-X

and the result was NG! if this helps.

Make sure firmware is up to date. ... there are fixes in. one release for colour registration issues.
Maje sure the cyan dev unit is sat right in the process assembly ie close to drum both sides.
Also make sure you are using oem toner.
Just another idea.. the lasers sre tje same, you could swap to fault find!
    Good luck..

    Thanks for your reply JohnyB,

Firmware is up-to-date, OEM Toner is being used, this machine virtually brand new, just out of warranty, cyan dev unit was never moved as it is still the original and is still ok, not sure what you mean by lasers swapping lasers, if you mean the toner drum i have tried swapping them however they are brand new and were recently changed. Thanks for trying though Johny

Numerous itb issues on this model. Check all bearings, etc on itb unit. Frame gets bent on these and causes mistracking of itb. Canon has about 10 bulletins out on itb unit, usually refering to E075 errors. The supposed steering mechanism that is supposed to keep itb running straight don't work properly. Swap the itb unit with another one to see if problem goes away. ITB-INIT basically records the edge profile of the belt(caused by manufacturing variances).Canon was sending out free replacement itb units awhile ago for machines that could not be corrected by means of bulletin adjustments, etc. This is why 52 series has 3 adjustment feet instead of 4....to twist it into running true. Make sure the machine is level for starters.

I've had mis-registration of single colours on these machines if the drum wasn't seated properly. If you haven't done so already, try removing then reseating the Cyan drum. Check if anything is loose on the Cyan drum, then try auto mismatch correction again. If necessary, try a new Cyan drum.

It's unlikely to be a Laser problem because that would usually affect 2 colours simultaneously.

I understand what your saying Canuck, I have corrected the level of the machine, it was sligthly out nothing too serious. Having tried levelling the machine better I'm more inclined towards your suggestion that the ITB has a fault and it can't correct the problem, it just seems odd that its happening to the CYAN toner alone.

I will ring distributor on Monday and see if the can try a working ITB unit in this machine and see if this narrows down the solution. Any other suggestions would be really appreciated.

I agree Dan, I will go through this again now and see if this corrects it.

Thank you everyone so far for your contributions in solutions, I have tried all solutions offered so far, the only one I haven't yet tried is swapping the ITB unit with another as I don't have one.

I will ask the main distributor if they have one I can try on Monday,

meanwhile any other suggestions would be very welcomed.
