Canon IR Remote UI

Canon's imageRUNNER series of copiers features built-in software that enables you to access many of the functions of these machines through a Web browser on your computer. If your business uses an imageRUNNER for its copying, printing and faxing workflow, you can use the Remote UI to manage its settings and the jobs your employees send to it for output.
The Remote UI shows you status information including how much paper's left in the machine, whether it needs toner and which color it needs. Before you can access the Remote UI, however, you'll need to turn it on.
Step 1Press the Additional Functions button on the machine's control panel and select "System Settings." In the System Settings screen, press the "Network Settings" button and make a note of the imageRUNNER's IP address. This address consists of four sets of digits separated by periods. If you're unable to access this information on your machine, ask your IT administrator to provide it.

Step 2Return to the Additional Functions screen and select "System Settings." Turn on "Remote UI" and "Device Information Settings." Press the "Done" button as many times as necessary to bring up Basic Features.

Step 3Turn off the imageRUNNER for 10 seconds. When you turn the machine back on, the Remote UI becomes available.

Step 4Launch your Web browser. Type "http://[IP address]" without quotes, replacing [IP address] with the actual address of the machine. Press "Enter" to load the Remote UI into your browser window.



Tips:

• If your Canon imageRUNNER uses the Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform, or MEAP, to run Java-based applications to provide custom functions, you or your IT administrator must turn on its ability to use HTTP in its MEAP settings before you start the machine's Remote UI.
• If you want to view files from an imageRUNNER's mailboxes you'll need to install the JBIG Image Viewer software on your PC. Check the software disc that shipped with the machine.
• Avoid allowing multiple users to access the Remote UI at the same time. Only the most recent settings take effect.

Warning:

• Unless you set your Web browser preferences to accept all cookies and use JavaScript, you won't be able to alter your imageRUNNER's settings in the Remote UI.
