I assume it prints via the network ok. And you can ping it.
If so, what email servers are you using.. Normal ports are SMTP – port 25 and POP3 – port 110 but some like Gmail require different ports setup in service mode level 2. Don’t know this particular model but things that have tripped me up in the past on Canon copier’s were
1. Incorrect default gateway.
On a computer on the same network select command prompt then type ipconfig and enter. Make a note of the default gateway and ensure it is the same as the address in the photocopier.
2.No DNS
I always use googles DNS servers (easy to remember) and manually set them.
Primary DNS server 8.8.8.8 secondary 8.8.4.4
3. Email authentication and SSL configuration. Depends on the email server but may require extra settings.

Re: hot to setup scan to email on canon c2220i
There are a lot of variables here, I believe the previous 2 posts have covered it, the only thing I would advise differently is to use the DNS servers to the internal network and not public facing ones; if in doubt see if you can find a computer on the same IPv4 subnet and take a look see at the network configuration, gateway / DNS / WINS - if they are old school
Good Luck
