    CANON IRC2380i (E-067-001) NO BLACK

    HI ALL,

Has anyone had this issue, the black does not print, there are slight specs where the black should be. same for printing or copying.

It also come up with e-067-001 intermittently.

I have replaced HVT1, LASER ASSY and the DC CONTROLLER as well as the whole process unit (including DRUMS, HVT 2, ITB, complete unit) from a working machine and get the same result.

any ideas would be much appreciated....

please see attached image of gradation......

update software to latest and replace the black drum. verify that the drum life is reset in service mode.

Looks like the clutch is not engaging and driving the black drum, do a search in the forum Teckat uploaded a shed load of images of a depressed clutch

If the drives and clutches look fine I would change the drum, easiest thing to do, then I would start looking at voltages going to the drum

Check if the coupling within the Drum Drive has compressed.

    seen this a few times

Also check Developing Drive Assembly, for a broken gear on the Black Developer Sleeve Drive Clutch CL4.
the Black Developer Sleeve Drive Clutch was replaced to resolve the issue. The part number for the drive clutch is FM2-3581-000.

I have seen this issue several times in the past month where the shutters are just not opening up all the way blocking the laser from writing on the drum surface, but since you have no black coming through and the E067 code I would take a look at your ITB unit either the HVT connection for the black primary roller is not good on the frame or you have a bent pin or something.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

    hi all

thanks for your help guys. much appreciated....

so it is the clutch in the end (CL4), removed it and found that it doesn't lock, just spins freely.

FYI....i also found that there was a heap of clean developer, just behind the laser right under the black drum. i think this may be a symptom of having a faulty developer clutch.....just putting it out there.......

    thanks again guys...
