I'm stumped. I am trying to print a #10 envelope from word using the MP tray. I put the envelope in vertically face down (without the envelope feeder) as stated in the manual, select the paper type and size accordingly into the imagerunner and it keeps telling me to load the paper that's already loaded! If I do to register a custom size, the minimum height it allows is 5.25" or something so I can't put it in the orientation specified. Any advice? Thank you.

Check if the Feed Method is set to "Print Side Priority"
    ;

if so > change to "Speed Priority" should resolved the issue.

Press (Settings/Registration) → [Function Settings] → [Common] → [Paper Feed Settings] → [Feed Method Switch] → "Speed Priority"
    *Note*
Print Side Priority prints on the side facing up- envelopes are required to be face-down in the bypass.

The problem can be resolved by setting the proper Feed From location in the Printing Options section of the Envelopes and Labels Window in Word.
The proper Feed From location is AUTO.
    To set this correctly:

    1) On the Tools Menu, select Envelopes and Labels.

    2) Within the Envelopes and Labels Window, select the Options button.

    3) This will bring up a new Window with two tabs: Envelope Options and Printing Options. Select the Printing Options Tab as shown below.

    4) At the bottom of this Window, you will see the Feed From drop down Menu.

    5) Set this option to AUTO or the Envelope Tray and this should resolve the problem.

Thank you very much but no go. I even changed the feed method to face down, vertical center, clockwise rotation checked - as is on the MP Tray - and even that doesn't work.

The Com 10 envelope is laid out on the tray vertically as indicated in the manual. The short length is 4.125”. I can’t even make a custom page size that is the same as the com 10 to try because shortest vertical length you can enter for “x” side is 5.5”. The optional inner finisher is not installed so the orientation should be correct as printed on the MP tray label. Yet, the only I way I can print the envelope is by feeding it horizontally which isn’t correct. Something is in conflict. The machine’s orientation is confused.

What version of driver are you using?

If you put a LTR sized sheet in there does it recognize and copy it bang on? In other terms, does the bypass function as it should completely ignoring the envelope issue?

No. Whenever I put paper in the MP tray the machine asks to manually set the paper size and type from the display. Is that wrong?

Noticed something odd. The Canon printer driver settings show COM 10 size as 104.7 x 241.3mm and Word has the COM size in Page Setup as 104.8 x 241.3mm. Could this be the problem?

Should ask for paper size when you stick something in bypass unless bypass standard setting is on and something is registered. You say you can register COM10 in machine no problem? Nothing wrong with the machine. The size difference could be the issue. I have dealt with this a few times and it is WORD causing issue. Create your own envelope in WORD. See how it goes. Bypass set to horizontal or vertical feed? Co-incides with setup of document in WORD? Like I said,i have had this a few times and it is the way that it is set up in WORD. Create another envelope in an app and try it. If you browse to machine, does it show COM10 in tray? I had one before that driver was on server, user had no privledges, showed wrong sizes on RUI in relation to what machine was set. Could not get device status. Got device status from driver on server, corrected paper size issues and it worked

The user manual and the MP Tray guide both specify vertical envelope placement unless the inner finisher is installed which it is not. I can select COM in the machine and it shows COM10 in the tray but it won't print. I can switch the envelope feed to horizontal and the machine will print but the orientation is messed up.

Re: "Load Paper" When trying to print #10 envelopes from MS Word on C2230

Can the machine make a copy job onto com10 once it's set in the bypass? And for clarification, when you put something in the BP it shows you numerous different presets? Cut the problem in half, is it the machine not being able to feed com10 via a copy job? Can you print on a LTR sized paper through the BP? Have you performed the MF adjustments? (should of asked that one first to be honest with you) COPIER>ADJUST>CST-ADJ>MF-A4R, MF-A6R, MF-A4 > double check with door spec.

When you perform function > cst > select one of the mf's and then move the side guides in the bypass. The number displayed should changed.

    ================================================== =

in the IRADC2230--Multi-purpose tray u can run envelopes both ways

    Envelope (Short Edge Feed) COM10 241.3 104.7
    &
    Envelope (Long Edge Feed) COM10 104.7 241.3

The Correct Procedure for the Tray Width Adjustment on the Multi-purpose Tray is listed below.

*Start off by entering the door spec for the Multi Purpose Tray, then follow the procedure below.

    1) Set A4R paper on the Multi-purpose Tray, and set the guide so
that it fits the paper width.
    (Lv.1) Copier > Function > CST > MF-A4R
    2) Select the item, and then press OK key.
The value is registered after automatic adjustment.

    3) Set A4 paper on the Multi-purpose Tray, and set the guide so that
    it fits the paper width.
    (Lv.1) Copier > Function > CST > MF-A4
    4) Select the item, and then press OK key.
The value is registered after automatic adjustment.
