Angry "Load Paper" When trying to print #10 envelopes from MS Word on C2230

    Hi all.

I'm stumped. I am trying to print a #10 envelope from word using the MP tray. I put the envelope in vertically face down (without the envelope feeder) as stated in the manual, select the paper type and size accordingly into the imagerunner and it keeps telling me to load the paper that's already loaded! If I do to register a custom size, the minimum height it allows is 5.25" or something so I can't put it in the orientation specified. Any advice? Thank you.

Try changing paper type/size, then load envelopes in tray.

What software are you printing from? UFR/PCL/PS and version? If you just send a test print job via the bypass does that feed fine if you just use regular LTR paper?

Yes. Odd thing is that it doesn't feed from the specified orientation. The long side (Y) should be parallel to the feeder and the short side (x) should be perpendicular. I can print it horizontally but it's not correct because the machine doesn't have the optional inner finisher. If I go to set a custom size, the minimum (x) length you can enter is 5.50" which doesn't make any sense because the com10 (x) is 4.125" so the machine doesn't accept it's own orientation specifications using the MP tray. Why then does it say to place the com10 envelope vertically into the feeder when the minimum vertical (x) size it accepts is greater than the specified envelope size? It only works horizontally if I set a "custom" com10 size instead of as indicated on the screen and MP tray guide.

WTF is going on here! Can I manually swap the X and Y minimums? Right now the machine reads as if it won't take anything less than a 5.50" vertical feed in the MP Tray. It has its orientations confused. How can this be fixed? Service Mode?

Check this tip and let me know.

and check Settings / Registration > Function > Common Settings > Paper Feed > Paper Auto Selection > Printer > Bypass to 'ON'.

The application is over-riding the driver. In Word under page options(i believe),check the settings for the envelope.Correct envelope has to be registered in Word. Even if you pick COM10 in the driver(having registered envelope as COM10 in the manual feed tray),it has to be told back in Word to use COM10. Sounds confusing but I've been down this route a few times. The flaky photo-interrupt(changed many) has to do with detecting any paper inserted in bypass tray. If you have no issues sensing other media put into manual tray(stick it in,asks what size),then it is not the machine but the way the job is sent to it. Bet a beer Word is causing it or VR for bypass has to be re-programmed(service mode)

Thanks for the reply. I already made sure this setting is set to off. Very strange. The printer specifies the COM10 size but acts as if there's not COM10 envelope in the paper tray. Again, I can't even set the COM10 to a custom size as both the X and Y measurements are under the minimum allowed size. This is a very very very bizarre glitch.

Already done. I've used this driver with the LBP7780Cdn and MF9280 without any problems. The printer does not accept the suggested orientation. You can't even specify a custom vertical (X) size that is under 5.50".

Can you do a straight copy from the BP with it set to com10? Just be thankful you don't gotta muck with Wordperfect
