Wink Canon IR C5051 Copies comingout Wrinkled

    Hey all,

I know I have seen this before, but I can't remember what causes it.

I have a Canon IR Adv C5051 where the copies are coming out wrinkled.

I appreciate any responses on this.

I want to say it has something to do with Humidity, but Not sure if that is the problem.

I know I have to replace the Magenta Drum its putting a line on the edge of the paper, but I dont' think that could have anything to do with it.

I checked error codes, nothing showing up there.

    Thanks for any responses.

Split upper film maybe. All trays? Paper sizes?

    Hi Canuck

As far as I can tell it appears to only be 8.5 * 11 paper.

Will have to check back with user to verify this fact.

    Thanks for the feedback.

OK so an update on this,

It appears it is Only 8.5 * 11 paper.

I made copies of 11 * 17 and nothing happened (no wrinkling).

Made copy of 8.5 * 11 and some of the pages were wrinkled.

Not all pages are wrinkling, it cold be 2 out of every 10 pages that wrinkle, you can print 2 or 3 times and no wrinkles then the next copy/ print wrinkles.

What should I look at in order to determine what is causing this issue?

    Thanks in advance.

    OK So Update # 2

I took the fixer assembly apart, removed the separation guide from the film unit and cleaned it (there was a bunch of buildup of old toner and what not.

Also cleaned film unit and didn't notice any tears, splits, cuts,.... (was dirty with toner residue but cleaned that)

Ran some copies still having wrinkling issue It seems like it might be related to the finisher because all the text is there and it is wrinkled after the text is put on the page.

Any other suggestions as to what I might check?

Thanks again for all the help.

fixing and past. Usually this is caused by the fixing seperation guide. It has a coating on it which wears down. Check the fixing entry guide for toner build up and check the fixing NIP for even pressure. If these are normal, check the guide plate in the Shutter Assembly for toner build up. If present, remove the toner or replace the shutter assembly: FM3-5952-000.

Re: Canon IR C5051 Copies comingout Wrinkled

    Update # 3

Ok so I slid the finisher back about 6" or so and watched it print copies, I could see wrinkled pages pass between the copier and the finisher, so that definitely rules out the finisher as the culprit.

Where else in the copier would I check to see what is causing the wrinkling?

Like I said earlier, it appears that it is not happening at the fixer phase because all the text it present (eventhough it is smudged from wrinkling it is there).

Where else beyond the fixer and before the finisher would I check to see what might be causing the wrinkling?

Thanks so much for the support.

Fuser is running faster than the fixing delivery or delivery rollers. And the delivery solenoid isn't extending far enough but that would usually cause a jam. L

After more digging I cannot find a fixing speed adjustment in service mode. So I'm pointing at PS37 being late or PS41 being late. Ensure that the fixing delivery rollers are all in good shape, 1 aluminium, 1 rubber, 1 sponge and 1 black aliminium. I'm fairly certain your fixing is turning faster than the delivery or the delivery isn't rotating properly.

Are you getting any jam codes at all or just the wrinkled copies?
