CYAN LASER ISSUE
A BD signal has never been detected.
(It may be caused by damage to the laser PCB/BD sensor or removal of the harness.)
(1)Check whether the harness is not removed.
(2)Replace the scanner unit.
(3)Replace the harness.
(4)Replace the DC controller PCB 1 (IMG).
(5)Replace the power unit.
E110 sub codes descriptions are as follows:
1st line: Always 0
2nd line: Station where the error occurred (1: Y, 2: M, 3: C, 4: K)
3rd line: Main unit status when the error occurred (0: Activating, 2: BD control 1, 3: BD control 2, 4: Changing the speed, 3: Operating steadily)
4th line: Polygon control status (0: Suspension, 1: FG rotation, 2: BD control 1, 3: BD control 2, 4: BD Control 3, 5: BD control 4, 6: Phase locked)

Hello,
What do you mean by "printer initializing" ?
If you have made any "clear" operation, put back the door values.

The machine quit during a print job back in february, we have a backup and haven't used this one since then. Just trying to get it going again if economical (it was secondhand, not more than $2-3K). Upon turning on, the lcd reaches the point of the regular copy menu display, then you hear it making its warmup sounds(clicking and turning and stuff) and below the copy menus it says "Printer warming up", then right after that, the lcd changes to display the error message with just a soft button option of shutdown with a message that says if restarting doesn't fix the problem call for service.

simple test is to Swap the Cyan Laser with it's neighbor Laser or swap neighbor Laser connectors/
and see if error travels to that other Laser
would post a pdf o procedure--but this site is still having issues
or u could check for a loose connection on DC PCB 1

Just had the same issue on a 3220. High pitch screech is the laser unit. Changing it should fix your problem. All 4 lasers are the same.
Any way of getting those instructions for testing before I purchase a new laser unit, or do you think necessary at this point? We work on home appliances here, not copiers, but I'm sure with a little insight we can do this. I have the service manual to help in dissassembling.
Another question, should i need the laser unit which shows to be part# FM2-5406, the service manual says after replacing to enter the "values" in service mode. Where would i find these "values" for the new laser?
-----------------------------------------
i would call for a Canon trained tech in your case
instructions in manual/ u don't need to worry about values on a swap test/ u just want to see if code travels to swapped laser
----------------------------------
if u need to replace laser >Laser Labels are on units>

I swapped cyan with yellow laser unit. The error code did travel to yellow E000110-0102 now, so a new laser unit should fix the problem. I also saw in service mode where to change the values, so thank you all for your help. I'll get the new laser on the way shortly.
Thanks again for your help. I was able to get another used 5185 to use for spare parts. I installed a laser unit out of that one and mine is working like a charm. Thank you. Saved lots$$$ over calling for service.
