Grey Color Mismatch Import an image into Word

Hi all. When I attempt to import a PNG image exported from Illustrator into Word, the grey color portion of the image is printed in different intensities when it should be the same color. If I import the file as TIFF or JPEG, this doesn't happen but the color isn't as accurate as the PNG on screen and when printed. Any ideas? It only seems to happen with the grey color shading. I've tried turning "Grey compensation" on and off to no avail. If I print the image in Photoshop, the printout is fine. The machine is an IR-Adv C2230. Thank you.

Okay. Seems like the problem is resolved if I export to PNG without transparency. Weird.
