Please Help Canon IR5000 Cassette sizes

I have two canon IR 5000's which worked beautifully until a month ago. one developed an issue where it would not /does not recognize 8-1/2 X 14 inch paper in cassette 3. I replaced the sensors in the cassette bay with no results. When I went to check the settings on the other machine, It too now will not register legal for some reason either. It shows paper in the tray but will not register the size. Any assistance would certainly be appreciated

I see a reference to tight wire ties, leading to the cassette size sensors. That's all I've got.

have you tried to do the cassette adjust ? to registered the size correctly.in copier>adjust>cst adj.in service mode.

Most common cause of this, of course I'm sure you checked if you swapped the sensor board, is paper jammed behind cassettes. Have you swapped out the basket/cassette into the C4 spot just to make sure you do not have bad cassette? Previous post is possible, especially if you replaced a bad sensor board, and now are having this problem, you must go into service mode, Copier/Function/CST, set the guides accordingly and select the C3 option. This should reinit this board to inch size. You can also fine adjust by going into Copier/Adjust/CST, but I am not sure the exact values there, service manual does not detail. Good luck sir. Here are a couple some things to try.
1. Reseat connector J111-b on the DC controller
2. Swap the size pcb with tray4 and see if the problem follows it, I have had the width vr go bad or the spring come off.
3 Perform D_CON clear and re-enter the door specs.
I have seen all of the above.

Not sure how THAT got out of adjustment... but that was the solution. Thanks!

Wire ties have been an issue with Canon for a long time. Canon is now working on a production solution. I imagine they are getting sick of us lowly techs bitching.

The explanation that I heard was that the wire harnass technicians are rewarded for the neatest wire harnasses, which also have the tightest wire ties. It's too bad that these are the harnasses that have the weirdest problems.
