Canon IRA C5051 Blurry Cyan and Magenta

    Hi all,

I can't seem to find the answer how to correct this in my SM.

I have a canon IRA C5051 that is printing the colors Cyan and Magenta blurry (sort of double exposure).

So far I have taken the ITB out and disassembled it, cleaned the ITB (both inside and out)and all rollers.

Ran full auto adjust graduation from settings/ registration/ maintenance/ adjust image quality.

Still have the Magenta and Cyan offset a little on color copies.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Have you try taking out the laser unit out to cleaned? These units tends to have stained mirrors due to tiny particles being slipped through it housing. Careful when you plugging those wiring after cleaning to install back these laser units, it would sometimes cause the whole machine not to bootup.

      A couple of questions,
      Are the Drum Units REBUILDS?
Have you tried swapping the Y with C & M to eliminate the Drum Units?
If no change from above check Dev Units, Drive to Units and clean Laser Glass/Units.

Even it is not correct i used to open drum units and clean the black charging roller inside the drum unit. This is just to work a few days, but your drums are almost dead.

          THanks Tinny & Canon Buddy,

When I get a chance I will check the drums and try swapping them around to see if the issue is still there.

          I appreciate all assistance.

                Hey all

I just put in 3 new drums, Cyan, Magenta, & Black.

I am still having the issues.

Even after running a FULL gradation process.

I have attached a copy of the original and of the copy showing what I am dealing with.

                Thanks again for all help.

                    Sorry for my early reply.
You have a problem with color registration i think caused by bad itb transfer rollers (4 transfer rollers, one for each color).

Re: Canon IRA C5051 Blurry Cyan and Magenta

                      WE figured out the problem.

It was the shutter assembly that looks at the color density on the ITB had somehow come disconnected from the Selenoid that actuates it and was not opening.

This was causing the colors to be off and would not allow any adjustments to have any effects.

Reconnected shutter to solenoid and no further issues with mirroring/ blurry colors!!

Sometimes its jus the simple things.

I truly appreciate all the responses and ideas as to what to try.

                      Thanks a lot.

Are you talking about that little shutter right next to the black drum? That thing has broken on me so many times. Some customers I just remove it and end up having to clean it periodically.

Yeah Newfoundland, that is what it was!!
It wasn't broken, It has just come loose from the actuator is all.

Anytime I have that 3d image problem on the ir c 3200/3220 transfer belt rebuild fixed the issue. ck transfer unit rubber rollers for cracks and binding, replace belt and transfer rollers. I have had blk drums cause that problem in the IR C 5185. Hope info helps
