Hi,
I have a Canon IR C5180 with a Fiery H1 server. I would like to set the default color mode of the printer to greyscale. Where do I do this?
Click on the (*) choose the printer settings in the pages there somthing inside let you choose if you want full color, grey
Distinguished road makes you jewel in rough
I have three options in my printer driver settings; printer default, CYMK, and greyscale.
When I choose printer default, I get CYMK. How do I change printer default to be greyscale? Note that I would much rather change a setting on the printer than configure drivers on all computers that use the printer.
The reason I have for wanting this is that all of our users need only black and white, most of the time. (This is a school.) Printing color is much more expensive with the machine's service contract.
I have looked again and couldn't find it. Is this feature/option available?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
set a Color imageRUNNER to copy in black mode by default----
From the Display Panel of the imageRUNNER change the setting from "Auto - Color" to "Black" using the pull down menu.
Press Additional Functions
Select Copy Settings
Scroll down to select Standard Settings
Select Store
Select Yes
Select Done
Now when making copies from the glass, the imageRUNNER will automatically default to Black only.

Thanks for the reply.
This will change the default for making copies from the glass, but it will not effect the default color mode for printing. I would like to set the default color mode for printing. The driver on all of our computers default to the color mode "Printer Default," which is CYMK. I would like to change the "Printer Default" to be Black only.

Setting Print Server Driver Defaults To Black And White
The Print driver needs to default to black and white printing when distributed from a print server. Network administrator does not want to change each new workstation driver install individually to default to black and white printing.
Driver will be pushed down from print server.
Follow the directions below for PCL and UFRII Print Driver Settings:
Go to the properties of the PCL or UFRII print driver on the server.
Click the Advanced Tab and then click on the Printing Defaults... button.
Click on the Quality Tab and click on the drop down arrow in the Color Mode Field. Choose Black and White as the Color Mode, Click Apply and click OK.
Click OK one last time and reinstall driver from share printer on the workstation.
Follow the instructions below for the PS Print Driver Settings:
Go to the properties of the PS printer driver on the server and click on the Printing Preferences button.
Click the Color tab and select Black and White from the Color Mode: drop down menu.
Click OK one last time and reinstall driver from share printer on the workstation.
Follow these instructions below for the Fiery PS Driver Setup:
Right click on the Fiery Driver and click on Properties. Click the Advanced Tab and then click on the Printing Defaults... button.
Click on Color, choose Grayscale and click the Expert Settings... button.
On the Black Color Setting Profile, click on the Black Text/Graphics drop down menu and choose Pure Black On, click Update.
Click OK one last time and reinstall driver from share printer on the workstation.

Not too familiar with the fiery's but add functions > Printer settings > Colour mode will set the colour mode for the printer itself, for everyone
