Can you browse via smb when you do a new send > file > browse on the canon? Can you see the shared share via the same procedure too?

Do you get a report with a numerical code or does it not even try to scan at all?

Did some digging and found this bulletin

When sending data using SMB to an SMB share an error occurs and data cannot be sent although you are able to browse the folder. The device will indication a #801 error and "check the server"

Install the following patch and all should be well.

Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 General Availability Update Rollup

If you have done the window updates, that isolates that.

Check the DNS and possibilty WINS entries on the copier, is the gateway valid; some networks still use WINS, can you believe it

Check in the network settings of the network connection for the target computer, is it is set to public / home or office profile?

Check to ensure file and print sharing is enabled in advanced networking

If its on public it will close the firewall down, you need to change the profile to office preferably

My next step would be to reverify the login credentials, were is the account configured, on the local security database of the target computer or in active directory on a server?

I would physically login as the account configured on the copier onto another computer on the same subnet as the copier and see what effective permissions that gives you, can you browse to the share using the UNC path; \\computername\sharename - can you WRITE to the directory?

If that works you then know its an issue with the copiers SMB configuration, I would delete it and create a new one from scratch and test.

Good Luck win 8.1 works better than Win 8

Another cool add on is Windows 8 classic shell, google it and see if it will help your environment
