Thumbs up iR 3220 Color Displacement

The original complaint was of wavy Magenta background, but after performing all the steps in Canon TP06 07a.pdf the magenta background went away only to be replaced with color displacement during copies and prints.
To summarize the step in that tech pub:

    1) Upgraded the DCON Version to 38.02
    2) P-Print, Then cleared DC-Con
    3) Restored values of: PVE-OFST, ADJ-REFE, FEED-ADJ>REGIST, MF-A4R, MF-A6R, MF-A4
    4) Removed all drums and executed L-ADJ-O
    5) Adjusted DVTGT-M to -3
    6) Adjusted TC-Ref to 0
    7) Adjusted T-SPLY-M to -1
    8) Performed a CCD adjustment
    9) Got a bottle of Maker's Mark

Like I said, it helped with the Magenta background but doesn't help to replace one problem with another!

Thanks for the post! I will check these things one at a time.

Is there a laser setting that could be causing a color displacement in the main scanning direction? This problem only happened after the DCON was upgraded to v38.02 and I performed all the adjustments that I listed above

    Print out a P PRINT
    Then do a DCON CLEAR
    POWER OFF\ON
GO IN SERVICE MODE -PUT BACK DCON INFO from P PRINT
    POWER OFF/ON
    Do a Full Auto Gradation.

I'll try this too. Should be on Mon or Tues and I'll let you know how it goes!

Init Colour Reg in SRV Mode 2 then Init colour Laser Units, perform full Auto-Grad.

I go as far as leaving a door open when I go back in to put the #'s back in. That way the machine doesn't take any measurements between the clearing and re-entering. I also do a quick adjust, it appears to do line position.

    Like this:

    Print out a P PRINT
    Then do a DCON CLEAR
    Open right drawer
    POWER OFF\ON
GO IN SERVICE MODE -PUT BACK DCON INFO from P PRINT
    POWER OFF
    Close right drawer
    Power on
    Do a quick adjust
    Do a Full Auto Gradation

Some machines require an extreme approach, and I have had to do those this way:

    Print out a P PRINT
    Perform manual Laser timing
    Open right drawer
    Power on
    Then do a DCON CLEAR
    POWER OFF\ON
GO IN SERVICE MODE -PUT BACK DCON INFO from P PRINT
    POWER OFF
    Close right drawer
    Power on
    Do a quick adjust
    Do a Full Auto Gradation

These sure can be a challenge to get back once they get out of their happy zone. But, I have had the best luck by not letting the machine take any measurements between resetting the lasers and clearing and re-entering the DCON.

    Re: iR 3220 Color Displacement

Finally got it fixed after manually adjusting the laser cams back into the home position and doing the second adjustment that boog suggested.

    Thanks for the help!
