Internal Finishing Unit Stacking Problem C2550

    Hi,
One of my clients has a Canon IR C2550 with an internal finisher. Now the problem is:

    1. The finisher outputs just 10-15 pages and stops.
    2. Then it prompts for these pages to be removed and works fine till the next 10-15 pages are printed.
    3. Rinse repeat.

This problem has really flummoxed us all and I've never seen anything like this ever happen before. Basically my client can't print any large document.
One thing that I did notice was that the finisher "base" keeps adjusting [up and down].
Maybe we can stop these adjustments to get a solution?

Thanks again. Please do let me know what more info I need to post.

Service mode level 2 > Copier > Option > User

TRY-STP Used to set mode in which output stops when tray is full.
0: Normal mode (Interrupted when finisher tray is full.)
1: Interrupted only by height detection

basically change it to whatever it isn't atm.

too add on--for Z1 Finisher if applies to your printer

Check the paper surface sensor SR11's Actuator and the Actuator's Spring.
Inspect the Actuator and see if too loose, that would cause it not function/return properly.

if this is the case>add an extra wrap to the actuator's spring

    Z1
    Stack (number of sheets/stacks)
    Non-bound small-size
*1/ 71 mm or less in height or more than 500 sheets (81.4 g/m2 paper)
    large-size
*2/ 35.5 mm or less in height or more than 250 sheets (81.4 g/m2 paper)

    staple sort
30 sets; or, height indicated above; of 81.4 g/m2

    Size mix
500 sheets or 71 mm or less in height (81.4 g/m2 paper, proper stacking not guaranteed)

    staple mix/
    mode mix

30 stacks or 71 mm or less in height (81.4 g/m2 paper, proper stacking not guaranteed)

    Stack Tray Operation
The stack tray paper sensor (SR11) goes on when a stack of sheets is newly deposited on the tray. The stack tray is moved up and down by the stack tray shift motor (M7). The stack tray home position is where the stack tray upper paper surface sensor (SR9) is off and the stack tray lower paper surface sensor (SR10) is on.
If the stack tray is not in home position at the start of a coy/print job, the stack tray ascent/descent motor is driven to move the tray to home position.
The upper limit of the stack tray is monitored by the stack tray upper limit sensor (SR13), while its lower limit is monitored by the stack tray lower limit sensor (SR14). If any of these sensors is on, the stack tray shift motor may be driven in such a way so that the stack tray will move in the direction opposite the sensor that is on.

Thanks to all of you! The Actuator's Spring was malfunctioning and causing the problem. They tried all the other methods first and then the Actuator Spring was taken care of.
