    over-ride for username/password

A Canon ImageRunner 7200 was donated to my little school. I can't even test it since I can't get past the login, (Department ID and Password). Monochrome model #F140303. I assume this model has an over-ride for servicing purposes. Please help...Many thanks,

    ------------------------------------------------

    1) Go into Service Mode by hitting [Additional Functions Key->#2 and 8 Keys together-then>Additional Functions Key]
    2) Select [COPIER]
    3) Select [FUNCTION] (One of the buttons across the top of the LCD)
    4) Select [CLEAR]
    5) Scroll to screen two of the LCD using the Right arrow key.
    6) Select [PWD-CLR]
    7) Hit [OK]
    8) Hit the RESET button twice in order to return to the Main LCD Screen. This will turn off the Department ID Management feature on the machine (without deleting the configured Department IDs and Passwords) and will clear out (delete) the System Manager ID and Password.

It might be necessary to Power the unit Off and then Back ON.

    ================================================== =============

If needed after following above............................................. .
To delete one or more Dept. IDs, follow the steps below:

    1. Press Additional Functions from the Control Panel.
    2. Select System Settings.
    3. Select Dept. ID Management.
    4. Select Store Dept ID/password.
    5. Select the Dept. ID you want to delete and select Erase.
    6. Select Yes to erase the Dept. ID.
    7. Click Done 3x to return to the main screen.

NOTE: If you do not know one of the Dept. ID and password, you must know the System Manager ID or you can set one up.
If you do not know the System Manager password either, you then can delete the System Mgr password in service mode.

Dear Teckat, Many thanks for the unbelievably prompt and detailed fix/response. I won't be back to school for a couple of days but am very excited to try the over-ride. The machine is so heavy, I avoided moving it up 3 floors for testing by fabricating a way-long 220 volt cable from our target location ac service down to our entranceway. Big challenges lie ahead: will it function as a copier; will the sorter apparatus behave, etc.
Bless you for getting us started, esatechguy

never move/hand carry a large printer/or finisher up flights of stairs/

The over-ride process worked great after cold reboot and the machine tested fine for copying..... now I have to attach the sorter and keep my fingers crossed that it's ok.
    Many thanks again to techkat,

You may remember my predicament @ July wanting to test an Imagerunner 7200 on the ground floor before lugging it up three flights in our little school.... you helped with the password over-ride routine and the machine tested fine with finisher detached..... we just finally lugged it up three floors and it seemed to give me a normal screen but I wanted to connect the finisher before copying anything. Now it's giving me an error E000732-0001 and won't go into normal mode even when I detached the finisher.
I did use the same override routine repeatedly to try to fix and/or clear the error to no avail. By the way I did find a possible fatal flaw re the finisher(K2N) (the plug from it to the copier had the fifth green wire stripped out of the plug fixture and I couldn't re-insert it nohow).

Many thanks for your earlier assistance and I'm keeping my fingers crossed you have another miracle handy!

    Error :
E732 is displayed on the control panel.

E732 pertains to a communication fault between Reader.

Controller pcb and the Main Controller pcb. Workaround :
Check "display" in service mode and verify that the machine is seeing the reader controller version. If it is not, check and verify that the reader controller is getting 24v. If no voltage is present check for a loose connection on connector (J5005

I basically (not being a photocopier tech don't get this and don't know how to reach connector J5005 to firm it up. We can forget the whole project though if the board is faulty since our budget is zero.
I did start browsing through the online service manual though to see if I had easy access to the reader pcb.
Thanks for whatever response regarding our situation... I am disappointed because my downstairs test produced a grat trial run of multiple copies of a multi-page doc.
    Thanks again,
