    Angry Color Displacement iRC3580Ne

    Hi Folks,

I am having a headache while trying to fix a Canon refurbished iRC3580Ne.

It ran fine for the first 25.000 copies than ITB Belt was torn apart.

I replace it with another one and in less than 1000 copies it tears down the second one.

I thought the process unit might be somewhat distorted so I pulled the process unit from another working machine and switched it.

When I turn it on - I get color displacement in both directions (horizontal & vertical).

I put back the old process unit to see if the problem dis-appears but the displacement is still there.

So I tried everything I know (I am listing here)

    1. RG - Clear (in level 2)
    2. P-Print and DC-CON Clear (than put back old values)
    3. MN CON Clear
    4. Auto Color mismatch
    5. Quick Adjust & Full Grad Adjust
    6. Clean and Re clean the patch sensors
    7. Checked SL1 for opening in Service mode
    8. Switched the secondary transfer ext. roller
    9. Switched the M1 motor
    10. Switched the DC Controller
    11. Switched the laser unit

    I am out of ideas....

is issue before or after transfer ?

Run a Large Paper Grid test print so u can check image on drum stop.

    Issue is before transfer.

I am thinking of removing the DRUM DRIVE ASSEMBLY

But I saw some red painted "no touch" screws, so I am slightly confused.

On the manual there is nothing about removing the drum drive assy.

I am afraid it is somehow calibrated to the machine body (not sure though)

    puhhh....

just removed & replaced that too.

It looks normal. The rotation is smooth.

I don't know what else to try...

    OK !!

so issue is before transfer to ITB ?

U mean GRID PATTERN is Offset in both directions (SUB & MAIN SCAN) on DRUM SURFACE

    Stupid ? #1
did u try a reload of Firmware ?

    Stupid ? #2
Remove the noise dampening pad for the Registration sensor flag and then performing Reg-Clear, Quick Adjust and then adjusting the IMG-REG

    Stupid ? #3

    Did u remove>clean & re-seat those SUB BOARDS on Main Pcb, ?

    Main controller PCB (sub RA)
color space conversion, rotation for electronic sorting, binary processing, resolution conversion

    Main controller PCB (sub PDRM-EF-A)
image processing for printer output (color space compression, background removal, LOG conversion, direct mapping, color balance, zoom fine adjustment, gradation conversion, screen
    processing, framing, add-on)

    Main controller PCB (sub SJ-A)
scanner interface, scanner image processing (resolution conversion, image rotation, compression/expansion)

    Main controller PCB (sub LAN-bar-A)
LAN connection, HDD controller, HDD power supply

    1. Issue is on both directions on belt. On drum it is hard to tell. Each drum has single color.

    2. noise dampening pad - Where is that ?
I am really tired so excuse me.

    3. I have already tried IMG-REG and I am successful to some degree but that is not the real deal (plus the machine should do it - not me)

    4. No firmware yet. I didn't think of any connection

Reg Flag i believe strikes pad ??

are all colors offset in all directions
Make a TWO COLOR GRID PRINT with two different colors ( use a combo of two colors)
u can also do 3 COLOR Grid Test prints-

The print commands start & arrive from the main controller

The DC controller computes the degree of displacement with reference to the position of the pattern detected; based on the result, the DC controller or the Main controller corrects the displacement for individual colors.

if the patch pattern is incorrect on drum surface> correction should take place on ITB from Patch Sensor

    Angry Re: Color Displacement iRC3580Ne

you know what is funny ?

In the beginning I took the process unit out of a working machine and put into this machine for testing.

Now I put back this unit to the belonging machine and now that other machine shows displacement.

    It is becoming viral

I am starting to believe that the shasi of this refurbished machine has some issues and is somehow "destroying" the process units that I throw in.
