From the Machine system settings look for the SMB enabled it.

change the ip to static ip then in your pc use this ip port settings, are you using a server or direct from the pc?

If direct from the pc use this ip to your pc (192.168.0.1 / 255.255.255.0) machine (192.168.0.100/255.255.255.0) enabled SMB. then on your pc on the printer settings change the port, to add port, TCP/IP port -->(http://192.168.0.100)

If you are using a server assign a static ip to your machine that correspond to the home network then same procedure in the printer settings.

got static ip address fron copier disabled DHCP 192.168.1.69 and enabled SMP .
setup on pc again with new port using TC/IP port address 192.168.1.69
and install new pcl5e drivers on XP.
Using broadband 5 port hub , but at moment only customer main computer connected and canon ir3300 on the hub.

Can scan documents ok with scangear via word, but documents fail 2 print still.
can ping using cmd command from pc using the above ip address and get reply ok.

My guess is the antivirus program is stopping you. turn it off for a test. and turn your firewall off, could be that too, you can go in later and adjust to accept printer driver.
ok back to basics. Is the copier flashed to the "N" version ? Maybe you need to flash it again. Then set up your ip in the copier with DHCP off. subnet address then use a crossover cable to your pc. forget the hub and do not go through anything else for now. set up the address in your pc and copier as you should know how by now. usually defalut settings are good enough in the copier, only need to put in ip and subnet to print. If you still cant print after all this, then we can try other things. If you can ping at this point, you should be able to type the copiers address in the address bar of say windows internet explorer and the copier rui screen should appear. That is a good sign, now you should be able to print. Oh by the way turn off your antivirus program just for a test print. You will find sometimes the antivirus program will stop it from printing. You can then go into the antivirus program and add the printer as a safe item. Once its printing resume with using the hub and a regular patch cable. also you can make a test just using dos, just to prove the printer is working
go to the dos prompt and type in "edit" an editor screen will come up, then type the word "hello" or whatever you want then go to file, then save as, test.txt make sure you are in the root of c: when you begin doing this trick.
then exit and go to the dos prompt again and type this: and make sure to use capital and lower case as shown. This will print to your copier the words you have typed without a print driver.

    lpr -S 10.4.2.6 -P direct -d c:\test.txt
substitute your copiers ip with my example then press enter.

With a iR3300 if he can ping it and scan from it is a "N" model, sounds like the pcl is not loaded, so you are partially correct he needs to load the correct system software

    Thumbs up ir3300

I set up ip address corrosponding to the home network range.

I disabled obtain ip address automatically on tcp/ip settings on pc.
set the range of ip address on the copier on the ip range settings.
    10.00.0.1 - 10.0.255.255 range.
used 10.0.0.20 on the home network and setup 10.0.0.21 on the copier and setup as normal as on the pc with tcp/ip port with same ip address as copier 10.0.0.21.
    all working fine.
Used pcl5e drivers as i read pcl6 driver are not stable.
I was using the ip address generated by the copier and setting that up with tcp/ip and was not working.

seems to be long way round , but working i dont know if this is the correct method.
But thanks to all for you time and effort .
