    IR-Adv C2230 - Dirty Printouts

Hi all. I have a Canon IR-Adv that is fairly new (under 1 year) and has recently started producing printouts that have a stained background - shading of black toner. What would be the cause and can it be fixed? Thank you.

yep, Bk drum, take it out and you will see toner all over the drum....pain in the butt these machines, i have had an ongoing issue with a magenta drum, leaking, replace drum, machine comes up with error, clean laser, still same, replaced drum...again, still error, replaced laser, still error....upgrade firmware in between all that and still same. Now supect the hopper motor or something along those lines

We had to take the chips off the old drums and put them on the new drums for a while. There was a dodgy batch or something. every so often we still get one. I think it was an E20 we got.

^^ Can confirm this - I had to do this a few months back for about 2-3 weeks. Often on I would get a drum which would flash e020 with a wierd subcode.

After replacing drum, laser, toner motor and still with E020 for magenta, turned out to be the DC controller! Bloody machines are so bad and inconsistent we are not selling them anymore!

I agree, saw one yesterday, black background on prints, drum was only at 79%, I have had some success in cleaning them, also in service mode you can change the upstream cleaning, this can help, but only temporarily. Get used to fitting lots of drums!
