    Cool hard drives for canon imagerunners

    Ok ok! I know this has been asked before. What hard drives can be used as a replacement instead of buying one from canon { brand/ type/ gigs etc. }

    Depends what model. Older models I used Seagates,but on those models hd format ift files were not encrypted and non-Canon hdds could be used if you modified the ift file. Newer ones, its encrypted so you have to get one from Canon or Nationwide Repair.

    40g barracuda drives you will need system software to partition. first single partition then you can partition other two for the 105 and 8500 only

    ================================================== ==========

    imageRUNNER 3245 / 3235 / 3230 / 3225

    Only Canon HDD are supported, because the drives come pre-loaded with the BIOS Software to boot the machine. (SEE PART #'s below)

    HDD on this series should not be formatted, unless a HDD Data Encryption Kit-B5 is being installed in the machine.
    The installation instructions for the Encryption Kit do tell you to format the HDD. The instruction are correct; and it is ok to format the HDD, only during the installation of the HDD Data Encryption Kit-B5

    Note:
    Be sure that the Encryption Board was installed in the machine prior to formatting the HDD.
    When the Encryption Board is installed in the machine and the machine is turned on an E602 will occur. At this point, turn the machine off and power back up in Download Mode. Next, format the drive and load the system software
