Ok, so I'm having trouble getting films to last on some of these machines. I know this is a common problem. I can change them in no time by now. I am sitting here thinking until I have confused myself. Would more pressure at the rear of the fuser Rollers cause the film to walk to the rear? or would that cause it to walk to the front. I'm just gonna try to pay attention to which way it walks and try to adjust slightly accordingly.

I had the same problem on a 4570 and the film was constantly tearing on the front end by increasing the pressure a little on the front it stopped it from walking toward the front.

You should never adjust the fuser pressure, that is factory set.

If you have using genuine canon fuser film units, also replace the pressure roller & bushings as these wear down causing uneven pressure.

I agree you should never adjust this except. The 4570 that I had this problem on did the same thing 3 times after using canon film assys and new lfr and bushings. Its possible that someone before me adjusted those screws.

Canon came up with a tech pub at one time describing how to adjust the pressure screws on these so respectfully, they saw the need to do so.

I did test and watch the film and did find that the film walks toward the end with more pressure. I have one that is doing this twice over the last 20k. Walking ro rear. Thanks for the replies.

when you flip the pressure plates that have the pressure screws on them with the red locktight, measure the amount of thread sticking out, they should be equal i set mine to 8mm to 9mm, but equal, had this problem on all similar engines and have had them go as high as 100k every time i replace the film i check the screws

Yes. Particular machine I installed new film, pressure roller, bushings, set the screw to identical measurements, and 10 k later walked to rear....

Was it a Canon film ass'y or just the non oem film?

Yes definatley, I fit the oem Canon film units & never have any issues, they last around 250k had a few last 500k so worth spending a bit more.

For the record i've tried non oem parts on a few Canon models & they only cause issues.

Leave the non oem parts to 3rd world countries!
