Canon 7095 Durability and Dependability

Hello Everyone, I have been using a Canon 6570 to print our ministry booklets for several years www.presenttruth.info. I am looking to upgrade and have been considering the 7095 with a V2 saddle finisher and a Cover inserter attached to the top. I have done all of my own service for the 6570. I have a service manual and parts catalog that have been very helpful. I have read about problems with the V2 finisher, and I am wondering if it is a good idea to upgrade to a 7095. The only thing I do with this machine is make booklets printed from a computer, so the finisher is a very important feature. We do not print for profit, and we cannot afford a new machine or a service contract. I have had no success finding a service manual and parts catalog for both the 7095 and the V2 finisher. If you have any input it would be greatly appreciated.

The 7095 is more robust machine, as such they tended to be sold to print shops and copy centers, so if you purchase one be weary of machines with extremely high page counts as it may have had a hard life before it gets to you. Another thing to consider is that the 7095 uses a 208V outlet not the standard 120v 20 amp that your 6570 uses so you will need to hire an electrician to come out and install a proper outlet.

Not trying to talk you out of it that series was very reliable. just pointing out some things to consider.

This machine is a work horse...I have a few that run over 350k a month each ... Personally I love the finisher. Yes its more complex than the printer(lol). But when you understand them they can run nice. This is a production machine. It likes to be run hard, non-stop. 6570 is a departmental office machine. Two different animals.

Thank you so much for your help with this. The machine I am looking at is a low meter at near 800,000. My 6570 has 1.4 million at the moment. I will have to get another power outlet. I have read about the fact that it requires "208V, 60Hz, 12A." Would a 220V outlet work for that? I live in the United States. I appreciate your input.

Excellent, thank you for your help. I run about 30-50k per month, and will probably never get much more than that. However, most of that amount is done in 1 or 2 days. Thank you for the input on the finisher. It looks more robust than my finisher on the 6570. That is the main reason I am wanting to switch, because my finisher has been giving me trouble, and now it won't fold or staple at all. I have also been having a lot of trouble with the fuser, developer, and some other troubles. It has been nickle and diming me, so I would like to get a more reliable machine. Does anyone have any ideas about the service manual. The dealer I am getting the machine from says that Canon stopped offering that service manual for download for technicians, so he cannot get one for me. That is a very important help in doing my own service on the 6570, so I really need to be able to get service manuals for the 7095. I really need a service manual for the machine and a separate manual for the finisher, one for the cover inserter, and another for the W1. When I got my 6570, the salesman gave me a CD with all the service manuals for the machine and one each for every possible accessory. Also I need to have the parts catalog for the main machine. I have searched online for these manuals for my other machines that did not come with them, and they were very difficult to find. I even paid money for them, but got the wrong ones or not enough of them. Since I do all my own service, it is very important for me have these manuals. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Just find a reliable machine with no issues. You will want to make sure the laser unit got updated to the new version. Or you can buy a refurb fixed laser from NRWS. Just make sure you get one with a good working finisher. Finishers can be repaired. Consult your local Canon shop and insist to talk to a tech. Find someone that is for sure trained and skilled enough to help with the machine when you need it. Repairing these machines is not a side job.

Thank you so much for all your help on this. My local Canon Technician who encouraged me to go with this particular machine told me that the 7095 will run just fine on a 220V system, and that I would just need to get the NEMA 6-15r receptacle. I am at a location where 3-phase power is not available. I have single phase two pole power. Will that work okay for this machine? The "208v" part of the power requirement has me concerned because it usually is three phase, and I do not have that available. Any input from personal experience on this would be very helpful.
