    Hello,

    i like to thank you for the SST Download!

    I am an Admin of a small business in germany and have an older iRC2380i with the "Insert Black Drum" Error. I have read that it is fixable with new firmware. Now i have the Service Manual and the SST, but i need the newest firmware too. I would be realy happy if someone can help me out.

    Machine is displaying a message to "Insert Drum Cartridge" for black even after a new drum has been installed.

    The
    problem could be related to a broken, loose, or missing drive drum coupling.
    In some cases the drum drive coupling was dislodged from the black drum drive shaft.
    This prevented the drum from rotating and caused the machine to display that the drum was not installed.






    or-------------------------The conductive bushing on the front side of the ITB assembly for the transfer roller is cracked.
    This part cannot be ordered.
    Replace the ITB assembly. Part number FM2-5522-030.

    DCON v49.01 was introduced to Help Prevent Miscellaneous "Insert Drum Cartridge" Messages in year 2009



    Information on a way to help prevent miscellaneous “Insert Drum Cartridge” messages from occurring.

    During the life of the ITB Unit, resistance against parts around the Primary Transfer Roller causes a decrease in the primary current at the drum detection sequence. This symptom may occur more frequently in a low temperature, low humidity environment.

    SERVICING:
    To address this symptom in the field, we recommend performing the following:

    Procedure:
    a. Clean the Transfer H.V. PCB (HV2) Contacts.
    b. Clean the Process Unit contacts to the main frame.
    c. Upgrade the DCON to v49.01
    When installing DCON v49.01, extract the .exe file, start the Service Support Tool v4.11Er or higher and
    browse to the folder listed below:
    “C:\Canon File Folder\SST System Software Folder\SST Files\CiRC3380_DCON_v49.01”
    Transfer H.V. PCB (HV2) Contacts shown as Gold Contacts in pic

    Thank you very much for this information. I checked and cleaned the contacts but it do not help. The error is randomly, if i restart the printer a few times it will come to work, but after some time the error comes again. My machine is from year 2008. So i hope the firmware update can help.     is message on all drums ? or just black ??

    did u check those interior white couplings ?

    Hi, i have checked all contacts and couplings again, it is all ok. The error appears only on the black drum unit. When the printer recognized the drum ok, than it will print perfectly. The machine has DC CON Ver. 45.03 installed. Thanks for your help. Greetings André
