I have a fuser unit on order. Any pointers to replacement including references would be appreciated.

If its noisy after install you need to install the new drive gears. there are three and it involves a fair amount of disassembly.
Another trick some do is install the old big white drive gear onto the new fuser. That way all of the old gear stay in the same mesh pattern and do not make noise.
The video looks like it would be very helpful, but it starts with external panels already removed. I found a service manual on line that purports to cover the IR-1025 amongst others, but its information on removing outside panels doesn't seem to correspond to this unit and is labeled as for the 1024 series, not the 1025.
I could have used a more extensive video, but with time and lots of screws, the printer with its new fuser is back in business. When a given part doesn't come off, it isn't clear to the complete novice if one is missing a screw, more force is needed, or some other trick is needed. As always, much thanks to those here. This is a vital resource.

I've been to many Canon Training Classes,
you get a minimal time on removing assemblies, rebuilding & re_installling them, manual is usually usless onsite.
Customers look at u with two heads.
It's even worse when I have to deal with DF's, Finishers, Decks etc.
