    ir3035 lightning strike

My customers office was struck by lightning and now their IR3035 won't come to ready. The warm up bar only gets to about 1/10th of the way and stays there. I keep expecting it to throw a E602 code for the HDD but it doesn't. I don't have a parts machine to try swapping out parts so thought I'd ask your opinion before I have to buy things I may not need.

Clean the contacts of the BOOT ROM and MEMORY

    Remove memory & re-seat
    Remove Boot Rom & re-seat

Then try To perform a Hard Drive Defrag,

hold down the keys 1 and 9 on the key pad of the Control Panel and turn on the Main Power switch.
A small white flashing square will appear in the upper left corner of the Control Panel LCD display then drop down to the bottom of the LCD.
Another white square will appear at the top and then drop down. Gradually, the white squares will form rows and convert the LCD display to white. When the Hard Drive Defrag is complete the LCD display will go dark and the message Download Mode will appear.

At this time cycle the Main Power switch off and back on. Hope for the best-------------------------

It hardly seems worth the bother. The machine is 9 years old, and the cost of even one board will eclipse the cost of bringing in an identical used machine. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I will defer to teckat for Canon remedies, and concur with BC on the replacement. But here's where I differ, if the unit is on a maintenance contract, Lightning damage or other acts of god or nature are not covered and the customer is billed for repair/replacement/estimate for repair, and they can deal with their insurance co. for settlement.................................
