Ricoh MPC 2551 cant print

The message was about the sub net mask being out of range code 005? blinking on the panel of the machine
anybody run into this? the client had just had the modem changed, still on the internet, I got it to ping, and ping my email server, but, it would not print or send out any mail?
could this be due to the subnet mask being wrong? I put the machine on DHCP auto obtain and the subnet was 255.255.255.0 but still not receiving print jobs or sending out email
yet i was able to finally ping the machine and my server for mail.
please advise

Just to make sure, are the workstations on the same IP range? I've had a few customers put their own router on the ISP modem and it put them on a different IP range from the MFP, which was directly connected to the modem.
