You will need to request a special update from Microsoft. I think the issue is that Vista is blocking the machine because it won't accept the fragmented data packets that it sends.
Hi, it's me again !!
Why is it difficult ( i must say impossible for the moment) to use the
scan to folder option on a Vista computer.I tried recently on a new copier
(MPC 2000 from Ricoh), i'm doing exactly the same process i'm used with
XP ( shared folder with full rights, dedicated account)
What is wrong ?

I just found this link hope it will help !
You cannot access a shared network resource that is hosted by a Windows Vista-based computer if the SMB request packet exceeds the MTU size
check out my previous posts on this subject. I posted a pdf doc for vista scanning. It is possible!!!

Hello,
I have benn hunting for a solution for a while. My latest attempt was with the patch from MS. A message appears upon installation indicating the patch does not apply to my system. I am testing on a Windows Vista Home Premium x86 (32-Bit) SP1 laptop. I took general steps such as allowing inbound and outbound routing of SMB and adjusted other firewall settings. I do not yet have a 3rd-party firewall program installed yet and I setup a shared folder with read/write permissions from 'everyone'.
I have not yet read your PDF (TonerBomb). I will find and download soon. Thanks in advance,
Toner Boy
Interesting finding i got when moving from one network to another. Unlike XP, what you can share on one network you can share on another, Vista changes the share property when I unplugged from our wired netwrok and shifted to our wireless network. The sharing got turned off. I had to turn the file sharing back on before I could see my shared folders again.
HMMM...
Anyone have any ideas why?
Thanks
unless the new network is "the same network as the old one" (domain name the same)Vista will do this. ie connect to a new wirless network, the wizard will ask what location? Home, work, public ect, and set up rights according to what you tell it. If I'm in a hotel hot spot it's public and Vista will hide most things from "public viewing".
Another new OS from them @&%$?!!!??%@*!

This was shifting from the wired segment of our network to the wireless segment. same domain.
Thanks
Vista scanning requires a password for scanning. If you don't have a password, you must use TweakUI or make another user, call it scanner/scanner, then when using SMB, use the scanner info. And make sure it has admin rights.
Programmers don't die, they gosub without return...
Thank you for your response. I currently have an admin account with a password. I will try a new account like you recomended. However, I am leaning more towards the idea of adjusting the security policies. My new problem is that Windows Vista Home Premium does not come with the security policy utility and I may need to make adjustments within the registry. Does anyone know of the directory within the registry these settings would be in?
As an extra note: I believe the reason why my installation of the packet fragmentation MS patch failed was because I all ready have SP1. I think SP1 contains the patch to fix this problem; so why am I continuing to have this problem (Unless my problem is unrelated)?
Thanks in advance,
Aaron
