I would like to add that if the customer is using a router provided by the ISP such as a cable company, they do not allow Netbios naming and a computer name in the SMB setup will not work. If they are using a router from the ISP we have had some success, depending on the ISP, unchecking use the DNS server from DHCP on the machines webpage and leaving the DNS server entries blank. This is also dependent on how network discovery is setup on the Windows computers. If network discovery is disabled in Windows even this will not work as the computer is prohibited from responding to a network name broadcast.
