Unable to Print from Windows 10
I have a client who has a network printer installed but unable to print to it, showing Offline all the time. They also have a USB printer installed which again doesn't print. I work on a Technical Help Desk for a Photocopier firm so used to fault finding this type of issue but this one has stumped me.
What I have tried so far:
- Check Port is using TCP/IP address,
- Changed the to port config from RAW to LPR,
- Switched off SNMP Status,
- Reinstalled Driver,
- Deleted/Removed all previous driver for this machine,
- Stopped/Started the Print Spooler,
- Reboot device and MFD.
I'm able to ping this device and also view the web interface page without issues and both are on the same network range.
This device is working for other users on the network so I can only image this is an issue with the PC directly. I have also noticed when reinstalling the driver when the Wizard is looking to communicate with the network adapter it comes back as Generic Network Adapter when it should be picking up the model specific adapter.Capture.jpg

Re: Unable to Print from Windows 10
If you're getting a generic network card when installing the port I've generally found it's a firewall (or remotely possibly antivirus software) issue. Turn off the firewall and try again.
Another thing to try is a SMB port. Most printers will be able to host a SMB port themselves. It probably will need rurned on at the printer itself. Then just browse the network to the printer. The port will look like this:
\\workgroup_name\printer_ip_host_name
If SMB can't connect, especially since the printer will act as it's own server, it's definitely a firewall blocking it.

Re: Unable to Print from Windows 10
So I setup the printer port to send to the SMB path and this worked a treat.
Didn't investigate any further as I didn't feel comfortable changing the customer Firewall settings.
Surprisingly they where using McAfee - which we appear to have no ends of issue with.
Thanks for your assistance.

Glad the smb port worked!

Are the other computers that can print on Windows 10? Try a different driver. Have you tried rebooting the computer.

Re: Unable to Print from Windows 10
Windows has come with free antivirus software since Windows 7. (Defender) There is no need to have any additional antivirus programs. I simply explain this to my customers most are unaware of this & are happy to uninstall this additional software.
