Ok thanks so much...I definitely do not have the right firmware.

Do you think someone could explain to me what all these different folders of D*** are?? I got this file which i believe is the new firmware but i am having a hard time knowing what to put on my SD card to put into the machine for an update. I know its a lot but any advice? Are these the right files?

If you have latest firmware you need to upgrade all . Sometimes the firmware cant be all load on sd card all at once so you do half then do other half. the copier will show which firmware need to be updated. it will show old firmware and new side by side just select all the one that need to be done.

One note there is the display issue if you have smart display then make sure firmware is correct for it and versa .

Just the fwu files. first create a romdata folder then inside that folder create D148 folder and then in that folder load fwu files.

Ok thanks so much...i did that and got to the firmware update screen...however before that it gave me a caution message saying that some of the files have a different P/N then the firmware on the machine. Then the files did not look like the verison that yall told me previously in this thread so i aborted that update, i guess i don't have the correct firmware.

Anyone know where i can buy it? Thanks for all your help! still learning all this

If you do not know what you are doing, hire an experienced Ricoh trained tech to do it for you. For many of the modules there are two different versions, one the machines with a normal operation panel and a different one for a machine with the Smart Operation Panel (SOP). If you load the wrong firmware, you are going to have major problems.

By far, having the updates done by a certified professional is by far the safest, easiest, and closest-to-risk- free method there is.

When you consider that the wrong firmware or even improperly installed "good" firmware can result in a very expensive paper weight, the price you pay someone to update is the least expensive, by a mile.

I would also highly question the ethics and reliability of anyone who sells firmware. There was, and I do mean was, only one known trustworthy individual who ever did this properly (Paul from JustManuals.com) who was a beloved member (and valued contributor) here on CTN. Sadly, he passed away a few years back. We still think about and pray for him often.
