    Device Certificate for Scanning

On the older MP's such as the MP C5000, C2500, and MP 161 and such...in order to due scan to email it makes you have a device certificate to permit ssl communication. What is this certificate and how do i download it onto these machines?

    Re: Device Certificate for Scanning

Device certificates are only required by specific applications and features such as @Remote. They are not installed, they are created by the app/feature when you set them up. Scan to email requires a site certificate. Older models, such as the MP C5000, might not support site certificates. Attached is a Ricoh white paper on scan to email. Inserted inline is a Knowledge base document on setting up site certificates on those model that support them and do not come with the pre-installed. Re: Device Certificate for Scanning

I haven't setup scanning on any machines in quite awhile that don't allow SSL. What I used to do is create gmail accounts for each user and setup forwarding to their work email. I'd use " ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM " as the SMTP server since it would still accept port 25.

I'm assuming that still works, since I've never gotten any calls for my scan to email quit working. Of course I've been wrong before so maybe it isn't still available.
