Question Help Canon imagePASS-A2 Fiery networking problem

Hi, I our office just set up a Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7260 with imagePASS-A2, we never used Fiery before we can't access it via the network, I have tested the Ethernet cables and they are fine we have a crossover cable going to the C7260 from the imagePASS-A2 and a patch cable going to the router from the imagePASS-A2 the status LED on the imagePASS-A2 are blinking and the router LED are also blinking but we can't find any IP address for Fiery in command workstation, I will attach the configuration page from the image pass-A2 we have the router IP address set to 192.168.100.113 and the Fiery is showing IP of 192.168.100.114 from the configuration page, I have used IP network scanner software but can't find the Fiery any help would be appreciated

Question Re: Help Canon imagePASS-A2 Fiery networking problem

    Security Setup

    IP Filtering Yes

    Default Policy Deny

    IP (Access) Range
    192.168.104.0 to 192.168.104.253
    192.168.98.32 to 192.168.98.32
    192.168.100.4 to 192.168.100.4

    Your network range is 192.168.100.xxx
The router IP address set to 192.168.100.113
The Fiery's IP address is set to 192.168.100.114

Even if you change a PC on the network to 192.168.100.4 the Fiery would still be blocking the router, which explains why you are getting no comms at all.

So you need to set a laptop to 192.168.100.4 and connect directly to the Fiery with a cross over cable.
Then log in and change the access range to something like 192.168.100.1 to 192.168.100.253

Re: Help Canon imagePASS-A2 Fiery networking problem

Hi, Cipher thanks just to confirm I should have the router IP set to 192.168.100.1? we have DHCP also on the router

I can try to give the
    Fiery static address of 192.168.100.4

if this does not work is there any rest button on the Fiery to default IP?

we don't have the password for the imagePASS-A2 we wanted to try to Fiery Password Retrieval Tool

Re: Help Canon imagePASS-A2 Fiery networking problem

Setup your network as you please.

Just make sure the Fiery has the access it needs to the network range. (or simply turn Access control off).

-There should be a reset button on the Fiery somewhere, that should enable DHCP and disable access control.
-Not sure about the password recovery tool, never had to use it.

If the router is acting as a DHCP server, you could reset the Fiery and then simply reserve the I.P address it obtains at the router.

    Note

It is never a good idea to manually set I.P addresses low down your network range when you have a DHCP server on the network.
Doing so can lead to I.P conflicts as you add and remove other network devices over time.

If you are using a DHCP server then you should use it correctly and to it's full potential and manage the whole network from it.
    -or-
You should disable DHCP and just manually set everything on the network and keep a written network plan.

I don't mind either methods, but I'm not a fan of mixing the two.

Re: Help Canon imagePASS-A2 Fiery networking problem

I don't know about Canon but with Ricoh, there are 2 network jacks on the Fiery and on the MFP. One is a gigabit Ethernet connection and must only be used to connect the two devices together. If you connect the LAN to the gigabit connector it will not be recognized. I believe this is a requirement of EFI who manufacturers the Fiery.
