    windows 10 version 4 upgrade

Have a customer running win10 and upgraded the OS to V4. He is using the V4 universal driver and is having issues when printing from autocad ( it prints a rectangle) on the page). If he goes back to the standard universal driver it prints fine in autocad but printing PDFs from web pages are garbage and will not stop printing. All FW is upto date.
    Any ideas?

I dont usually touch the universal drivers.
PCL6 seems to be a good “all rounder”

That driver won't work at all with Autocad now. Just prints a line of symbols on a page and won't stop printing just as if you are printing using the incorrect driver.

Not sure if your printer properties has a Download Fonts tab or not, but the Resident Fonts (usually the default) may be what is causing the garbled print.

Autocad requires a PS driver. Why do you not install the standard KX driver that can handle both PS & PCL files? I never use the drivers embeded in Windows, they are only a small sub-set of the of the full driver! Install the KX driver and let us know how it works.

    I agree.

Autocad has always fared better with PostScript, as far back as I can remember.

That is exactly what happens when you use a PCL driver with a printer or soft that requires PostScript.

This is being handled through the customers IT person.
I never deal with Autocad. Tell me more about the KX driver.

Sorry if I led you astray, since you did not tell us what model you were working with I referenced a Kyocera driver. Regardless, AutoCad requires a PS driver, download the PS driver from Ricoh's website and install it on the PC. Even if you are not authorized for Ricoh the driver is available on the public website.

Make sure the printer has postscript on it.
