    RICOH MP-2501 L

Machine has only a USB port and it is not recognized
as a printer even if i installed it at another pc or laptop.
Is this a damaged USB port or a BICU board, is it a blockage
    on it's own logic?
Searching service manual i didn't find anything to restore logic,
does anyone has a good suggestion?
    Thanks for any input.

    MP 2501L uses DDST driver...

Usb port is activated as default from the factory and through
this port client could print. But suddenly it stopped to print and he called me
to isolate the problem. SP settings have been checked, i can't find something suspicious!!

Don't know this model but i have seen lot of damaged USB/NIC ports on different models. Worst case port is a part of main board, sometimes if you're lucky they are dedicated.

Did it stop printing immediately following a Windows update? Most computers have multiple USB ports. Did someone inadvertently disconnect the USB cable and reconnect it to the wrong port like maybe janitorial service?

May be yes, may be no...things are that i have never faced a
damaged USB port. Well, i checked (plugs in & out) GDI Basic Board which is very expensive, BICU too.
I use to have always such a problem with the same client, so
i suggested a network printer as a cheap solution.
Thanks again, i appreciate your help.

If you think the USB port is damaged you can always desolder it and solder on a new one like this
USB Female Type B Connector - PRT-00139 - SparkFun Electronics

A hot air station would make it easier but even with a standard soldering iron you could remove it. Much cheaper than a new board.

Now before doing that have you tried printing to it over USB from another computer or a laptop? I'd try that first.

Not so easy to destroy a USB Type B connector and how to diagnose that it's the connector faulty...
read my first post please, to answer the question what i have done so far...Thanks s/trooper
