Speed up printing help

Hi All,

When printing CAD drawings from Draftsight to a Konica Minolta C284 it can sometimes take up to 20 minutes before the document will print, the document will spool and leave the queue while the KM's data flashes but it will take a while before anything appears in the job list. The document I am using to test does have a lot going on in terms of layers but surely it shouldn't take this long.

I've tried a PCL/PS driver, changed Download Font Format to Bitmap, disabled SNMP Status, disabled Advanced Printing Features & enabled Print Directly to the Printer to no avail.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try using the "print as image setting" this can help.

Also what version of firmware is the machine on?

C224 is an old model now.

I would try printing from the web page to bypass the driver or try printing from a USB to bypass the network to see where the slow down is occurring I would suspect it is the CAD program though turn on print after last page is spooled and see when the light comes on at the c284 that would be the processing time

+1 on the "Print As Image". Some of those CAD files have so many layers in them, and most print drivers will process each layer one at a time before printing. Print As Image knocks everything down to one layer.

PostScript is very slow too.... I'd use strictly PCL unless you're using a Mac.

This is NUTs Byte count slooooows the print job way down
I would only use lpr to print to a fiery Not the standard. raw 9100
Most cases slow printing is due to wrong driver, port settings never use WSD ports

I have tried exporting as a PDF and using Print As Image is definitely the way forward, however, the customer wants to print directly from the application but having tried all suggestions I don't think this is going to be possible.

Pause the print queue and send the job, try to demonstrate to the customer the size of file impacts the speed/time of printing.

Hmmmm, that's funny. EVERYWHERE I've done this, printing is sped up considerably. Guess I just have the magic touch or something.
