Your IP address is wrong the third octet is wrong make sure that all but the last octet is the same and your subnet mask all have to be the same. Use a crossover cable if you are going straight from the PC to the copier.

You are using a CROSSOVER CABLE right?> Well the only thing left to do, with replacing parts is to do a System Flash. You must have service tool and the specific 5000/6000 data to do this. Sorry I can no provide this for you.
thanks all senior,
my IR 5000 has connect to my PC
actually it cause of :
1. my windows XP is trial version, i reinstal using SP 2
2. ip setting for machine : 172.16.10.3

i tray to ping 172.16.10.3, no data loss

Hi blackcat! Initially I thought the same thing, that would be true if his subnet was 255.255.255.0 That signifies a class C network, and all but the last octet have to be the same. But his reported network is 255.255.0.0, which is a class B network, I believe only the first two octets have to match. This allows for a far greater number of network address' to be available. But on a small network, class B makes no sense.
I may be mistaken,, and if I am,, somebody educate me
Thanks for the correction mrfixit. I don't see many class B addresses, so that slipped right by me. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

hello, i know how to install a printer, but my problem is finding the ip address of canon ir5000 printer. can anyone help me about that.
also the printer is on a simple network with a router. when i go to the router page 192.168.... i can see all the computers connected to the router, but not the printer.
thanks.
hello, i have finally figured out the ip address of the printer.
it was 192.168.10.2, and my network ip (gateway) is : 192.168.2.1
and mask is 255.255.255.0
so i have changed printer's ip to an ip of same subnet :
192.168.2.21
when i add the printer with setup installation file, it doesn't find the printer. i tried to ping my pc from the printer, ne responses. i'm sure it is well plugged because there is a green light on the rj-45 printer's side, also on router's side.
here are some of the printer's settings :
IP address : 192.168.2.21
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway adress: 192.168.2.1 (also the router's address)
Enable dhcp : ON
enable rarp : off
enable bootp : off
DNS
primary dns server : 192.168.2.1
secondary dns server : 192.168.2.1
Host name : canon
Domain name : trendnet (very weird !!! , i have connected a trendnet router yesterday, and it kept that name??)
dns dynamis update : OFF
wins resolution : off
netware : off
appletalk : off
smb : off
Have you restarted the copier since you changed your ip address settings? Changes made to the copier do not take affect till the copier is turned off, and back on. If you want the copier to maintain its address at .21 , turn off "enable dhcp".
no, sorry it doesn't work even with dhcp turned off
the light of the network card of printer is green
i do not understand
i gonna try changing the router....
also i installed PS3_v4.37_Setup driver...
