    \ becomes ¥ with Vista.

    \ becomes ¥ with Vista.

This is a PC with Vista platform. When using the KonicaMinolta FTP-Utility the backslash in the path is automatically replaced with a ¥ symbol.

This happens only on this computer and both when I enter the path manually and also when I use the browse button to search for the path.

I had this once before with a XP computer and there it was an activated language pack but in this case with the Vista machine there has never a language nor keyboard pack been installed.

    Any idea's?

    Hans

Can you use the "/" (forward slash) character instead?

FTP should work OK with it; not sure about the utility.

Keeping it simple: Try to write the path in a different program (like edit) and then just copy it over :D If this doesnt help you might want to check the keyboard layouts... maybe a wrong layout is present, even if its not the active one. Delete any unneeded or excess layouts and only leave the german layout in the list. Might just work.

You say Vista never got any language pack installed, but I think Vista already comes with such packs preinstalled. Try to check the keyboard settings as Wynard suggests, or the regional settings. I'm sure you'll find the culprit somewhere over there.

This same exact thing happened to me on a Windows XP once. That was the first and last time that has EVER happened to me in an XP environment.
In this case I had setup FileZilla FTP Server. It's super simple(FileZilla - The free FTP solution).

Also, I just tested the Konica FTP Utility in Vista Ultimate and it's doing the same thing. I would suspect Windows is to blame(incompatability, updates, whatever). I tried typing the path in Wordpad then doing a copy paste into the FTP Utility but the '\' gets replaced.

Oh, and I tried running it in Windows XP SP2 compatability mode, no luck.

Pressed and held [Alt] and typed '92' in the 'Root Folder' field but Vista inputs '¥'. Tested [Alt] + 92 in Notepad and '\' is inserted. Tested copying '\' from the charmap but it still gets replaced with '¥'.

I've also tested all of this in Windows 7 and get the same results.
And I've tested in Ubuntu 9.04 using Wine. The '\' does not get substituted.

We've been able to isolate this behavior to the Konica FTP Utility.

Given the fact that the Konica FTP Utility was released before Vista, and therefore not "meant" for Vista, this may just be something that doesn't work in Vista.

Gabriel, thank you for your help and ideas.

That's normal, it doesn't hurt anything. The program is so old now.
