Fiery address book

Here's another Fiery question for ya'll

This is with a E8100 and E7100 sold by Ricoh. Not sure what fiery system they run they are the currently sold models.

I am trying to add email addresses to the address book on the Fiery to be used with scan to email. I can't see any way to do it from the op panel. From the users and groups under configure in the web interface I can only see how to make mail boxes. There is a field to put an email into but no matter what group I put the user into their email address does not show up when I do a scan to email in the address book.

I was told the only way to actually get them in there is to send an email to the fiery with some special syntax. So that would require the customer to create an account for the fiery and set it up to receive emails.

This seems totally ridiculous so I can't believe this is the only way.

I seem to remember being able to add email addresses from configure and the op panel on the E3000/E5000.

I have to be missing something could EFI be that stupid (yeah I know they could be but I just want to check)

You can create presets from the control panel by performing the following:

Create Email-SMB Presets on 7100
Select Fiery Driven button
Select Scan tab
Select Email off button to turn on Email (bottom left of display)
Select To
Select Edit
Enter Email Address
Enter Display Name
OK
OK
OK
**Save As preset (Select bottom Save as preset button)**
Select button above Public (Full Access)
Type in Preset Name (display name)
OK
OK
To test select yellow clear mode button on keypad
Restore scan to default settings Yes
Fiery driven button
Scan tab
Select bottom select preset button
Select your preset name
Email is now on and you can scan and email your document
Follow same process for smb presets.

To do this remotely, however, requires the aforementioned pain-in-the-keester method where you set the Fiery up with its own email address, and format a message in a certain way to populate the address book.

That procedure is contained in the E7100 or 8100 user manual; please PM me if you need it.

Thanks.

You'll notice that there are 5 buttons on the right side of the LCD screen; the top 2 are preset buttons for scan setting presets, the middle one is for additional scan settings, and the bottom 2 are for destination presets. They're easy to get confused.

Yeah I bet that was it they both say something like save preset. So after I try this I will have to call the guy that told me you could only do it by email and tell him he wasted his time getting that to work

Yeah the preset did work I also found the section describing it in the user manual. They don't show up in the address book but this is close enough. Entering in 30 on the panel was annoying though.

If I had to do this often I would set up a pop3 server on my laptop I think.

Thanks again !
