Bizhub350 settings for e-mail to outside network.

Bizhub350 settings for e-mail to outside network.

The PageScope Web Interface allows for the SMTP settings only an IP-Address. A DNS server name is not possible obviously

Customers provider is only known under his DNS name. I can get providers IP-Address with a ping but I'm afraid that the returning IP-address will change from time to time.

Question1: Any work around other than a local e-mail server relaying/forwarding the e-mails coming from the Bizhub?

Question2: I tried using the Argosoft free local e-mail server for relaying but here its the same problem. Argosoft wants too a clear IP-Address and cannot work with a DNS name. Any other e-mail servers known to work well for this purpose?

Turn On your DNS setting and enter the DNS adress or adresses and the you can use the server name.

Hoping not to sound too stupid, but from where? PageScope?

350network.jpgI ussually do it all from the machine, admin mode, networksettings, dns, Enable "YES", enter server adress... once this is done go to Email, SMTP and you will have the option of entering Host Name.

If the ISP is a rather well established provider, then their email server IP address shouldn't very often (as in once every 3 years). You could ring the ISP and ask them if their SMTP service is on a static IP.

Failing that, go for DNS like pepper suggested.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
