Ricoh Aficio MPC3300 Scan to Email using Hosted Exchange Server ?

Client is switching from an in house SMTP to an outside Hosted Exchange Server and the Ricoh won't process the scan to emails anymore.

Any help?

This can be anything...

- Network settings correct (IP-adress, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS)?
- SMTP-server name correct (Maybe you can try to input the IP-adress instead of the name)?
- Does the SMTP-server need authentication or a secure connection (SSL)?
- Does the machine need an account on the SMTP-server?
- Did you specify a sender email adress?
- Can the machine make a connection with the SMTP-server, are there firewalls or anti-virus software that are blocking the connection?
- Is the port number correct?


You'll have to provide more info. It's the same when you're visiting your doctor and telling him that your feeling sick, and then asking him to do something about it....

Exchange generally uses an encrypted connected so more than likely scan to email isn't going to work anymore.

rthonpm is correct. With an in house exchange server, you frequently did not even require authenication. With an online hosted exchange, they most likely require SMTP over SSL which the MPC 3300 is to od to provide. Update the customer to newer hardware or they will have to install a computer running an SMTP relay software such as Stunnel.

It can do SSL. It cannot do SMTP over SSL. Secure email requires SMTP over SSL.

Any ideas for a reliable free smtp online account ... gmx seems to get blocked for spamming too often ?

The problem you may encounter is many ISPs block SMTP port 25.

You could check with their ISP. Most ISPs provide at least one email address to every account. Usually used to identify the account for support and billing purposes. If the customer has one and the ISP allows port 25 SMTP, you can use the ISP account email address.

You could also try gmail. Not being able to do SMTP over SSL, you would have to use their port 25 SMTP, aspmx.l.google.com. That limits you to sending to other gmail accounts. The customer would have to email to their own gmail account and then forward.

Cheers ... But it's not the sending that's the issue, it's other people not receiving that's the concern .
