    RICOH MC305SPF POS Not seeing Yellow cartridge

    OK , I've replaced the toner sensor PCB and cleaned out the copier, Installed OEM toner but it still states reseat the toner.. Problem >> the housing the cartridge goes into at the end, that opens the sliding door for the cartridge , does not close it when removing causing a mess. Question > cause for that ??? next The yellow is not recognized when making contact with the contacts.

    If the machine is saying "Toner not set" the most likely cause is the contact for the yellow toner is bent or snapped seen this many times, takes about 90 mins to replace.

    If it tries to load the toner after you replace the bottle, then goes back to saying the bottle is empty, then it is a faulty toner hopper. Had a few of these go now, and it is not fun to replace.

    I've had to change the hopper housing for this fault.
    It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

    On the toner hopper there are 2 white plastic pieces on either side that open and close the toner bottle. I've had a few toner bottles that would force one of the pieces to jump out of position and prevent the toner bottle from entering fully into the machine. You can check this easily by removing the laser units and vacuuming the toner hopper entrance. Compare the position of the white pieces with other colors after pushing and pulling the toner bottle slowly. I solved by changing the faulty toner bottle "head" with an used one that works fine.
    It may show the "Independent toner supplier" message but will work just fine.

    This is a known issue, upgrade to the latest firmware. Else the issue will return even after replacing alot of parts.

    I am not familiar with the software upgrades. I'm working on this printer for a friend, I'm HP certified not Recoh

    Then you need to get the official firmware for the machine from a ricoh dealer.
