re: rz220 black drum not inking to the edge of the master
hey all,
i have a rz220 black drum that doesn't seem to be inking all the way to the edge of the master on both sides in the middle. i don't think it's the pressure roller because my other drums are inking pretty evenly and i just cleaned the black drum with a rag and some alcohol and that didn't fix the problem.
if anyone has any idea how to fix it or whatever is going on, much appreciated.
Re: rz220 black drum not inking to the edge of the master
I usually use citrus-solvent to clean drums - really cuts through the ink.
If it physically cleaning it isn't effecting it (and you sure its not super dried out / clogged), then I would look at the quality of the ink. Are you using OEM RISO ink that is less than 2 years old? You can use older ink, of course, but the print quality ability to spread and dry gets worse as it gets older and the carrier fluid and pigment start to separate. If the bottle doesn't have a date printed on it, it's definitely too old.
Another thing to look at are the pressure settings in the Test Mode. Z-type machines seem to have finer control over pressure settings in TM. I don't have an RZ tech manual, or else I would look up the codes for you!
Other suggestions require opening up the drum. Has the doctor roller gap slipped out of parameter? internal squeegee pressure?
Re: rz220 black drum not inking to the edge of the master
How many prints are you making per master? If you are making less than twenty prints per master you are probably doing that to yourself.
Sorry if I'm wrong about that.
Also, how many clicks are on the print and master counters?
Sorry again, just troubleshooting, asking for information you may not have thought of so I or someone else here can provide you with information leading to the fix.
