RISO SC5500 help needed!
Hello!
I'm totally new in the digital duplicator world, but enjoying the learning!
Many thanks to this forum and all the people out there! This is a huge resource of information.
I just recently got my first digital copier. RISO GR3750 produce nicely, even there is some flaws as the paper feeding and master disposal. I was lucky to find a SC5500 too! I'm planning to produce a photobook with this machine and would like to get some help.
My setup includes PowerMac G4, running OS X 10.4.10 and I print from Preview. SC5500 is connected with ethernet cable and the universal PostScript driver is 10.4. The setup uses PPD 1.0
My question is about the file formats and calculating the image raster. An A4 image 1Mb, jpg, grayscale, 300dpi, 2480x3508px takes 18mins to calculate on the SC5500 rip.
A 500kt pdf file, where is only lines can be much quicker. RIP calculates it as fast as 20s to 3min.
Is there any way to speed up the rasterizing?
If anyone got a manual for SC5500 I would be glad to check it out!

Re: RISO SC5500 help needed!
Happy now!
I received full range of manuals for SC5500 from the previous owner. The slow processing time occurs because of the small amount of RAM in SC5500. I suppose there is only 4MB... I'll take a test print from SC5500 in near future and find it out.
I also got some drivers for SC5500 in OS 9 classic.
If there is a copyist in trouble who needs the manuals for this model, I can share the knowledge.

looking to get one for envelope printing, how does it do?
how much are inks for it? do you use aftermarket? what other consumables are there?
