RISO units can print large numbers at a fraction of the cost of a mfp. Also print on various card stocks and envelopes that many mfps struggle with.

    Cheers

    Re: Duplicators vs. MFP's?

Generally speaking the cost per page for an MFP is fairly constant. The average cost per page for a duplicator is based on ink which can vary based on coverage and cost of the masters, the more images you get per master, the lower the cost per page. There is a pages per job count where more than that count the duplicator is less expensive to use. Below that count the MFP is the better choice.

You need to print at least 50 pages per master. Its fast and cheap and very reliable vs a MFP. No sort staple or duplex that makes the labor add to the cost.
High volume MFP with sort and staple 65ppm machine or faster...

a Riso machine is a fraction of the cost but the print cost and labor combined makes a copier an affordable luxury.

    For schools and flier spammers.
    Whatever

Ricoh did sell a duplex model at one time. It could duplex 8 1\2 X 11 LEF utilizing an 11X17 master. It worked but the Duplex unit, which was under the drum could become a mechanical nightmare.
