Is it possible to change a Black Gr 3750 drum in an GR 3750/3770 color drum?

    Hello there,
I am fairly new here but I have been reading with great interest some of the postings here. This is my first forum question ever, I hope I explain myself understandable:
I use two RISO gr 3750 machines and have now purchased and added two GR 3770 machines. I operate now with 12 Color drums and I am constantly searching for more. But: As color drums are scarce to come by (at least in my region) I find the following thought very attractive: In total I have 4 black color drums. More than I need.
I know the 3770 color drums operate on HD ink and are different - ... But what about the 3750 black drums? Would it be thinkable to convert them into color drums that would run on both machines? I realize i would problably have to squeeze a lot of color through - but hypthetically - could it work? Or are there any hardware differences? Do you have any experience in that area? Has any of you ever tried that with a 3770 or 3750 black drum?
I would be most thankful for any hints!

doubt it.. if they were interchangable ....why would they make COLOR specific drums?

Well I don't not know - but I ask myself the question ARE there in fact any hardware-differences and if yes are they patchable.

well pull one of each set them side by side... look for differences... it MIGHT be as simple as a PLATE change to inform the machine of the type drum... then again it could be a chip on it... Did you contact Riso?

I Just wanted to keep you posted on my progress: I found out that it is possible and there are switches in the drum I have to workaround. It is doable but I have to take the drum apart. In the meantime I sort of worked around the problem and simply switched the color in the colorcartouche. I took an empty blackone and refilled it differently. I know - a rather low tech solution, but it worked.
