Rizograph RZ390ui problem with faded printing...

I was going to print three tracts on one 11x17 paper but the ink is faded on the left side of the paper. When I pulled the drum out, it looks like there isn't any ink on the edge of the master...I am not sure how these things work, but is there a way to clean it? If I print several sheets, it seems to get better, but not all the way...portions of the second tract is hard to read...any suggestions?

Alcohol won't work? Screen being the portion that the master goes over?

Yep, pull the master off and clean the drum shell/screen area. Stronger solvent the better. Alcohol ok. If there are a lot of copies on the Riso the black imp roller under the drum might be shot too. Pull it out and check for ink buildup.

Thanks a lot...My tracts are printing good now...the citrus did work better than the alcohol. It took several cleanings, but it works again. Thanks for the tip

The other thing that can cause this, especially on the 390 (wide print) is the pressure roller under the drum getting swelled / worn. Especially if the customer runs any carbonless paper. The chemicals will swell the rubber of the roller, making the pressure uneven across the page. Glad that just cleaning the screen solved your problem.
