Question Fine lines appearing on prints with GR1700

    Hi everyone,

I just bought a secondhand GR1700 from a church where it was fairly lightly used. The ink is apparently past the 2 year expiration date, but I decided to go ahead and try a few test prints anyway.

I ran about 30, and I'm getting a handful of fine unprinted, unbroken lines which run the length of the print. They show up on every print in the same place.

I've tried cleaning the thermal imaging unit, the scanner glass, the white background. Do I need to replace the ink? I'm new to RISOs, so any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks! A

More than likely this is the dreaded failed thermal print head, especially as you've already tried giving it a clean. Unfortunately, riso keep the prices artificially high on tph's and the result is it's usually uneconomical to repair them. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news!
