    RIP vs. GDI: Is there a perceptible difference in print quality?

    Hey all,
    I know that many older risos need a RIP just to print to the device from a computer. But, that is not required for newish models, like the RP3700. If you can print straight to the machine, is there a point in getting a RIP? Is there a noticeable difference in print quality.

    Anyone have any experience printing with both methods?

    Thanks!

    Well, I have the RP hooked up to my computer through an lpt already. Just wondering if there is any point to investing in a RIP. If the print quality was some how better, for example, it would be worth it.

    Hi sir, of course the print quality is better if connected with a computor. It worth it . All machines is printing better when connected with a computor, otherwise why we need a RIP . We have lots of Riso parts new&used , please ask me i may have what you need.

    The simple answer is no.

    The RIP on the older machines is incorporated to some extent on the newer machines. You find that the optional print controller would add network printing and might run a bit faster, but that is it.

    RIP = Rasterized Image Processor

    GDI = Graphics Device Interface

    They are both forms of printing interface for the machine.
    Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

    Thanks TheOwl!
    I think that I will divert my equipment priorities elsewhere!

    I appreciate it.
